 History - Environnement
Imperia was formed in 1923 by the union of two cities that had a rather different history, separated by the Impero river (hence the name) :
  • Oneglia ( Oneglia in Italian), a medieval town , which belonged to the Doria and the Savoy States from 1576, whose talk is crossed with Ligurian Piedmontese .
  • Port Maurice (Porto Maurizio in Italian), a city founded by the Byzantine Emperor Maurice and whose fate has been closely linked to Genoa. This is the Nice County part of France that made the latter city , capital of a province.
The stretch of coastline that borders the province of Imperia to the French border is called the " Riviera " ( Riviera of Flowers ), and is characterized by a succession of bays , inlets , small ports, overhung , 300 meters higher by valleys , gorges and summits. The sea that borders this part of the coast is known for its warm temperature , which remains throughout the year , including winter. Not far from the coast are a succession of valleys covered with thick forests and preserved.

Only 25 minutes from Monte-Carlo the marina offers all what you need and especially some excellent restaurants. We recommend : Sarri, Didù, Nero di Seppia y Al Gambero.
